Your Experience
Every patient's situation is different, as well as each experience at the Niagara Health Center. While we cannot guarantee what your own experience will be, we can provide a basic outline for our patients.
Upon arrival at our facility, you will be greeted and registered by one of our receptionists. We provide a comfortable area for you to wait in until you are escorted into the surgery center by a member of our nursing staff. Upon entrance into the surgery center, you may be asked to change into a gown and place your clothes into a locker. The staff will then review your medical information and take your vital signs. After the physician has reviewed your information, completed your evaluation and discussed your plan with you, the procedure will be explained and any questions you might have will be answered. You will then be moved into an operating room for the procedure. In the operating room, nursing staff will position you, prepare the surgical site, and apply monitoring equipment if indicated. Following the procedure you will be moved to the recovery area. After a short monitoring period, the nurse will update your pain status answer any questions you may have, and discharge you from the surgery center as directed by your physician. |

Joint Commission Accredited
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that is the nation's predominate standards setting and accrediting body in health care. Since 1957 the Joint Commission has maintained state of the art standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of care provided by professionals.
Joint Commission standards address the organizations level of performance in functional areas, such as patient rights, patient treatment, and infection control. The standards focus not simply on an organization's ability to provide safe, high quality care, but on its actual performance as well. To earn and maintain the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission Survey team at least every three years. The Niagara Health Center has been Joint Commission accredited since 1998. To learn more about the Joint Commission, please visit their website at www.jointcommission.org.
